Safeguarding as care, not paperwork
After six years coordinating a care facility in Italy I came back convinced of one thing: safeguarding is care, not paperwork.
After six years coordinating a care facility in Italy I came back convinced of one thing: safeguarding is care, not paperwork. The forms are useful — they make the work auditable, they protect the team — but the forms are not the work.
The work is the conversation with a family at the kitchen table. The work is noticing a colleague is tired before they call in sick. The work is reading the room at handover.
Treat the paperwork as a record of care, not a substitute for it, and most of the rest follows.
